Labor Day is upon us, and so is our 1st Sunday park jam. Maybe Robyn will lead us in Union Maid, hm?
Last week, my wife was at Chavez Park with our girls, and one of the other parents randomly said to her “Did you know there’s a musical group that plays here on Sundays? They’re amazing.”
My Sunday forecast says sunny & 84. Sweet! Join us this Sunday, under the pine trees at Chavez Park (41st & Tennyson Street) this Sunday, September 4th, from noon ’til 2pm.
And, our final jam for 2016 will be Sunday, September 18. Be sure to check with Gil if you want to be emailed about the Whole Foods winter jam rotation. I will include info here as well.
The images in this email are original paintings by my awesome neighbor Fran Schroeder, and inspired by this very group! Check out more of her work at http://www.franschroeder.com
Happy Thursday! Join us this weekend, for one of the final park jams this season. We will be playing under the pine trees at Chavez Park (41st & Tennyson Street) this Sunday, August 21st, from noon ’til 2pm.
Looks like rain on Saturday, and excellent weather on Sunday. Perfect!
Our dates for the rest of this season are:
- August 21 (this Sunday)
- September 4
- September 18
And, in case you aren’t on Gil’s list, here’s his note about Pickin’ in the Pines at the end of the month. Should be a great time.
I would like to invite you jammers to a wonderful jam event called Pickin in the Pines. It’s near Elizabeth, Colorado, just a short drive from Denver. It is a 4 day event from August 25-28th and is basically a 4 day jam! For more information check it out at http://www.coloradobluegrass.org/pickin-in-the-pines . Cathy Teusch and Cameron Church has invited us all to a picnic that weekend to play our stuff (Sunday, August 28th at 5pm) which should be a wonderful time. There should not be a conflict if you go for the 1st few days (or just one day) of Pickin in the Pines and leave that Saturday night or early Sunday morning. Cathy informs me that there will not be a jam at the Church that day, but will take place later in the day at the picnic starting at 5pm instead, giving you plenty of time to get back.
Hi, park pickin’ friends – We’ll have a group jam in the park this Sunday, from noon ’til 2pm.
It was great to see some new players there last time! If you haven’t joined us before, we meet at Chavez Park, under the pine trees (near 41st and Tennyson St. in NW Denver). Bring a chair, if you have one.
Many of the common songs in our group can be found in this fine tome, the Bluegrass Fakebook: https://amzn.com/1893907376
Be sure to check out the Cameron Park jams (2nd/4th Sundays from 11-1, and also every Tuesday evening at 7pm). 1600 S. Pearl is the address.
Hope you can join us this weekend!
There’s a poor weather outlook for May 1st, so we’ll start on May 15th.
Hi pickin’ friends! I hope you’ve had a great winter, and are ready to get together on Tennyson again this summer. We’re kicking off the season May 15th, and changing up the schedule a bit.
Park picks are now the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month. (We are NOT meeting on the 5th Sunday, this year.) Time is now Noon til 2pm. This is a bit later, to better support our friends with church and other regular Sunday morning commitments. The first few dates this year are:
- Sunday May 15 (Noon-2pm)
- June 5
- June 19
- July 3
- July 17
Sign up for our email reminders, and you’ll get a brief note a few days before each jam: http://tinyletter.com/tennysonbluegrass
Bring a chair, bring a friend! See you at Chavez Park (41st & Tennyson) on May 1st.
Hi there, bluegrass pickers! The weather’s warming up, and our summer park jam on Tennyson is about to start its third year. Our first session is Sunday, May 17th.
This year’s schedule is a little different:
- 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays
- 11am – 1pm
We’ll be at Chavez Park (41st & Tennyson, in NW Denver). Bring a chair if you have one, and come pick a few in our great Colorado sunshine.
Welcome back to all the regulars from last year, and thanks a million to Bob Schlachter for making arrangements with Whole Foods @ South Glenn, and keeping the group going over the winter!
Also, be sure to check out the South Pearl jam at Cameron Church (1600 S. Pearl) on the 2nd & 4th Sundays — also 11am to 1pm. There’s a very active farmer’s market on Pearl nearby and Cathy Teutsch was kind enough to coordinate their schedule with ours. Their first session is May 24th, and if you need more info you can contact Cathy at 303-946-1877 Cell/Text or firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you haven’t already, be sure to sign up for our email list, to receive jam reminders and any last-minute schedule changes or announcements: http://tinyletter.com/tennysonbluegrass
